Brightspots is designed to be a calm, private space to keep your personal wins and kind words. We intentionally collect as little information as possible and keep your content under your control at all times.

This policy explains how your information is handled when you use the app.

1. What We Collect

Brightspots does not collect personal data about you.

The content you create in the app, your glows (including text, dates and categories), stays on your device unless you choose to enable iCloud Sync.

We do not collect:

• tracking data
• advertising identifiers
• or marketing data

Brightspots collects a small amount of anonymous usage data to help us understand how the app is used and where we can improve it. This data is not tied to your identity, your glows, or any personal information. It is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.

2. Device Security

Brightspots can use your device’s built-in protections, such as Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, to help secure access to your content.

These protections are handled entirely by your device. Brightspots does not receive or store any biometric information.

3. Data Storage

By default, all your data is stored locally on your device.

This means:

• your glows never leave your device
• nothing is uploaded to Brightspots servers
• deleting the app removes the local data
• you can delete entries or clear everything at any time

4. iCloud Sync (Optional)

Brightspots offers an optional feature called iCloud Sync that allows you to keep your glows synchronised across your own devices.

How it works:

• Opt-in only: Sync is disabled by default. You choose whether to enable it in Settings
• What is synced: Only your glows and related information are stored in your personal iCloud account
• Private by design: Your data remains protected by Apple’s iCloud security and encryption systems
• No Brightspots servers: Brightspots does not access, store, or process your glows on any external servers
• No sharing or tracking: Synced data is never used for analytics, advertising, or shared with third parties
• Full control: You can disable iCloud Sync at any time.

If you turn sync off, future changes will stop syncing. Existing copies remain on each device unless you remove them.

5. Cookies and Tracking

Brightspots does not use cookies, analytics tools, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking technologies inside the app. Brightspots collects anonymous usage data solely to improve the app experience. This data cannot identify you and is never used for advertising purposes.

6. Analytics

Brightspots collects anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used and to make it better for everyone.

What we collect:

• general usage patterns (for example, which features are used most)
• app performance data (for example, crashes or loading times)

What we never collect:

• the content of your glows
• any information that could identify you Anything for advertising or commercial purposes This data helps us focus our efforts on what matters most to you

7. Website Links

Brightspots may open pages on the Brightspots website, such as the Privacy Policy or Terms of Use.

These pages are operated by us and follow the same privacy principles as the app. We do not use cookies, analytics tools, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking technologies on our website.

8. Your Control Over Your Data

You are always in control of your content.

You can:

• delete individual glows
• delete all glows
• disable iCloud Sync
• remove the app entirely

Because your data is stored locally (and optionally in your own iCloud account), Brightspots cannot recover deleted content.
